Boards of Review

Rank Boards of Review (except Eagle)

Double check (triple check, quadruple check) to make sure that you have completed all of the requirements for the next rank before scheduling your Board of Review.In the back of your Scout Handbook you will find the requirements for your specific rank.  All requirements must be signed off in your Scout Handbook.

  • You may contact the Scoutmaster to schedule your Scoutmaster Conference.

  • After you have completed your Scoutmaster conference, contact the Review Board Coordinator who will schedule your Board of Review.  It may take a week or two to get you on the schedule, so allow plenty time before the next Court of Honor.

  • Arrive on time for your Board of Review.  Have your Scout Handbook with you and be dressed in your Class A uniform, including scarf and slide.  Look neat and presentable.

  • Introduce yourself to the participants on the Board, and state the Rank for which you are presenting yourself.

  • Relax and respond honestly to the questions.  If you have ideas for Troop activities, or for improving the Troop, please present them.

  • After the Review, the members of the Board will dismiss you (don't go too far -- you will be called back soon) and will then determine whether or not to approve your advancement.  They will consider completion of the the requirements for the rank, and proper presentation (uniform, handbook, etc.) to the Board.  Once they have made their decision (just a few minutes), they will call you back and tell you the results.

Your Board of Review May be Delayed If . . .

  • You have not completed your Scoutmaster Conference;

  • You are not in proper uniform;

  • You do not have your Scout Handbook;

  • You did not request a Board of Review ahead of time and there are not
    enough volunteers or they are busy with other obligations;

  • You did not complete your requirements OR
    you simply did not get them signed off in your Scout Handbook.
